Have you heard the news? A fresh breeze is blowing through the Amsterdam canals. As of March 2026, our trusted Amsterdam Circle Line is sailing under a new, yet highly recognizable flag. From now on, we are officially continuing under the same name used in Haarlem and Alkmaar: Smidtje Canal Cruises. This new name brings clarity and recognition to the water, allowing you to see at a single glance that you are stepping on board for a familiar, high-quality experience.

A trusted family on the water

Just to be clear: we haven’t been taken over by an outside company. We have been part of the Smidtje Group family ever since our launch in 2015. Although we operated under the name Amsterdam Circle Line in the capital all this time, we have always worked closely with the other cities behind the scenes. For instance, the Smidtje Group has been operating canal cruises in Haarlem since 2016. During the sailing season (from March through September), you can also step on board in Alkmaar for a cruise along the traditional Cheese Market. And for private boat tours in Amsterdam, you can visit Smidtje Luxury.

To enhance our visibility everywhere, we will be sailing under the exact same name across all cities from now on. Our website, www.smidtjecanalcruises.nl, has also been refreshed and transformed into a single, central landing page for all three destinations. While Haarlem and Alkmaar already shared this name, this marks an official name change for our Amsterdam location.
